Dr. Nathan Lauwers
Nathan Lauwers is a PhD Fellow at the Institute for International and European Studies of Ghent University (GIES), with a scholarship from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). He graduated from the History Department at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels in 2016. His Master’s thesis explored the transnational freethinkers networks in the 19th century, based on an intellectual biography of the Belgian political figure Georges Lorand. During his studies, Nathan participated in an Erasmus exchange at the Universita di Bologna. He obtained a second Master in European Integration and Development at the Institute for European Studies (IES).
Research interests
External Relations of the European Union, in particular migration, security and development policies.
