Human resource management - F000671

Specific course requirements

All classes of the course Human Resource Management are scheduled in the second semester of the academic year 2019-2020.

Register this subject on Ufora in the week before the start of the semester, i.e. February 10th, 2020. If you fail to do so, you will not be assigned to a group for assignments or even pass this course.

Since active participation is required, this implies the following:

  • Register on Ufora in the week before the start of the semester.
  • Be present and actively participate in the lectures and tutorials.
  • Regularly check the announcements on Ufora.

The course “Human Resource Management” is conceived rather differently from traditional courses:

  • the traditional lectures will give you the basic theoretical knowledge. Note that the first lecture on Tuesday 11-02-2020 is obligatory!
  • Next to the lectures, our time will be devoted to the discussions of a business idea in small groups of 8 students, together with the tutor (one of the teaching assistant or lecturer).
  • supervisions will improve your social and communicative skills.

All these skills are developed by means of an alternative form of learning, problem based learning, in which you will have to solve problems in small groups. The small groups will be announced in the first weeks of the second semester. Please check Ufora regularly in the first week of the semester.

You are required to be present during lectures, tutorials, supervisions and case discussions: if you are absent without a valid reason, you can not pass this course.  Please notify (in advance!) the discussion leader, the lecturer and the pedagogic teaching staff of your absence. This is a very important attitude that is taken serious in this academic world as well as in the corporate culture.

Your evaluation consists out of two parts: permanent evaluation and end-of-term evaluation.  Students who fail in the first term will only be able to redo the end-of-term evaluation in the second term: as the permanent evaluation is linked to the problem-based tutorials, there is no second chance for this part and your permanent evaluation will simply be transferred to your results of the second term. Students need to pass for both parts (permanent and end-of-term evaluation).

The evaluation for this course is divided into 70% end-of-term evaluation and 30 % permanent evaluation.
